And the verdict is...

Mezzo or Soprano? What do you think? I vote for soprano.

Remember, I'm a Work In Progress. I'm trying to incorporate it all... still need to practice, practice, practice.

And here's the latest version of Despina. Trying to be regal, not always remembering to keep a wide open dumb jaw, but in my defense... this accompaniment is so darn fast!!!!

Hooray for figuring out one's fach! And good work on the Despina...it is my understanding that her arias are tricky.

Thanks. :) It's all tricky to me.

It's me, Anon, again. And thank you for your kind words about my comments. And it looks like you are taking them to heart. I can already hear more confidence there!

But, um, you are spilling our trade secrets with your (very funny and true!) video annotations... we might be in transports with the lovely music... aaaaand we might be thinking a running stream of technical thoughts like, "Be sure to breathe here, don't spend too much breath here because here comes that long phrase... modify that vowel here or it will not sound good... trill that r, tasteful portamento coming up, don't overdo it, blah blah blah."

For your fach, I vote, soprano. But, only you know where your voice is comfortable. Not anonymous Internet people. :-)

Thanks! The soprano is definitely easier - it feels more comfortable.

I just listened to a bunch of different opera singers singing Una Donna... how discouraging. Remind me not to do THAT again. No comparisons allowed - I'm in a different universe from them. I feel like I sound so blurty and harsh. Argh once again I'm having that, "Why did I wait until the age of 40 to start studying voice???" moments.

Figuring out one's fach is so hard!

I think you sounded more comfortable in the soprano key, but the mezzo didn't sound bad either. And even though you are (in my opinion) a soprano, you can still sing pieces in mezzo keys; I'm a mezzo and sing a few soprano pieces.

Good work! =)

I vote soprano. Also, Anonymous with his/her vocal tips is sort of like... the Phantom of the Blogosphere. XD Phantom of the Opera-blog? Either one works for lyric substitution. Anonymous seems more benevolent and less crazy than the original Phantom, though... Watch out for chandeliers! ;)

definitely soprano; sure, the high notes need some work, but the timbre is all soprano; loved the sassy-ness of the Despina
