Bells, Bells, Bells

Lest we lose our perspective, here's some pretty Mozart, pretty faces and pretty voices to remind us what it's all about.

So, I saw Peter Mattei as Don Giovanni last night...

...he give Nathan Gunn a run for his money, in my opinion!

Yes!! He was Figaro in the Barbiere production that they broadcast in HD and then later showed on PBS. He's a great Figaro! I can totally see him as a perfect Don. I'd love to see his Papageno - No doubt he rocks that role as well.

Yes I just said something about an opera singer rocking a role. I just rolled my eyes and groaned at myself for that bad pun.

Haha!

I don't know if I'd like to see Mattei as Papageno...I think it'd be too goofy, and a waste of his talent. (That's not meant as a slam against Nathan Gunn--I think Mattei is better, but I also think their talents are very different. Just now I'm trying to imagine Nathan Gunn as Don Giovanni. It's not working...)

I've seen some bad Papagenos... You need to have a great sense of humor and timing along with the voice, so I think PM would be great. NG as the Don... I know he's done it but not recently... So I have to agree with you that he's too, I don't know, nice or something, for that role.
