I opened your website, and an appreciation for Julie Taymore welled up in my heart! (I wasn't a fan until today!)
Honestly, the Papageno costume is supposed to be bizarre, so I can buy that. But I feel sorry for Matthew Polenzani (who, I actually think is cute...in a roly-poly sort of way...I can't believe I just admitted that!). That costume and makeup takes away all the seriousness of the Tamino role!
And the moral of the story is, if you want costumes on humans, don't hire a cartoonist!
Those photos make me want to cry!
